Oh Hail!

I drove through and survived my first hail storm today! Golf-sized mind you.

On my way back from Asheville this afternoon I ran into it , and then it followed me back to Morganton, and it scared the crap out of us and dented our cars!

If you have an HP laptop, beware! The power cord may crap out on you…twice. I bought one off Amazon that worked for um 10 days and then had to buy another one off ebay. But this time I got smart and bought one with a warranty!HA!

Anyway, I am in Morganton, NC! I have been here for 3 weeks now and I love my job! We have random days that are slow, and crazy days that are well, just crazy!

This probably sounds odd, but I love touching people and poking them and making them, “ow, that’s it!” I love being a PT, especially in the beautiful mt’s of NC!

Gallery Hoppin’

Last night was the 1st Gallery Hop of 2011 in Lexington.  I’ve been wanting to go to one for the past 3 years, but schedules have never aligned quite right.  But last night, a group of us went and had such a good time hoppin’ from one art gallery to another!

Girls’ Night!

So it had been a while since our PT girls bible study got together, and what better way to re-connect than over 1/2 price wine and desserts at Saul Good restaurant! After a couple bottles of wine and delicious dinner, out came the desserts!

I had part of a dessert pizza and chocolate fondue! ( I eat all the bananas by the way, if you ever share with me…)

Sugarland!

So when I went home a couple weeks ago Drew and I went to Sugarland in Chapel Hill!  Now this establishment was there my senior year at UNC but I never made it there for some reason!

And I regret that now.

From beautiful gelato, creamy cupcakes, and fantastic martinis, I was hooked just walking in the door!

I’m baaaaaaccckkkk!!

It’s been, well, a long time since I’ve written here and after a special request and a week off from school(woo-hoo) I am back!

A lot has happened so I’ll try to do a quick recap:

I’m engaged! AHH! You all knew this, but still I thought I would state it.  Yup, so full blown wedding planning and thanks to Cara I have a 2nd job of reading wedding blogs!

Drew planned a great surprise party for me back at my parents!

THen I went to Savannah, GA for an 8-week rotation where I worked on the ortho floor with patients who needed knee and hip replacements!  Savannah was beautiful, warm, fun, yummy, and a great place to have a rotation!

I've actually been here before with my girl scout troop, I found the Juliette Low house again!!!

Danielle and I went down to Savannah together from UK and we had so much fun hanging out together cooking, laughing, exploring, shopping, and training for a 5K of course!

NEW YEARS EVE: WEDDING!!!  Cara and Zac got married 12/31 and it was the best party I have ever been to, hands down!

This girl knows how to throw a party, including noise makers, hats, sunglasses, and of course ryan seacrest on the projector screen counting down the minutes!  These 2 lovebirds left on a boat and then flew out the next day to their new home in Kuwait (after a quick honeymoon stop in Bali of course!)!!!

So pretty. POCKETS, ahhhhhhh!!

THEN, guess who’s gettin’ married??? That’s right, the lovely couple pictured above, Ansley and Will!!

Now, I am back at school in Lexington for a couple more weeks.  I have 2 more rotations (MOrganton, NC and MOrehead, KY) and then I graduate!!!

I am supposed to be in New Orleans this week for the national Physical Therapy conference, but it was cheaper to come home instead…maybe next year!

She’s getting hitched!

SO, a while back my roomate Mary got engaged and I helped plan the Whole thing! It’s fun pulling pranks on your own roomate, muah-ha-ha!

Mary and her boof(that is what we call our bf’s) Jared  have been dating for a while, and he facebooked me the weekend before he was gonna do it, to tell me of his plan!

He wanted to do it in class one day, have me work it out with the Professor so he could walk in and do it in front of every one.  Wellllllllll, we actually had a test that day and his plan was looking like it wasn’t gonna work.  But Ally, my brilliant roomate said, “Hey, why don’t we get our class president to call a fake class meeting?!”  Perfect, everyone would be pissed that they had to wait around after the test and would be totally caught off guard!

On that fateful friday, Jared drove over from Indiana and I managed to take him through our building without anyone seeing and hid him away in the boys locker room!  Yeah, pretty funny picture.

I brought him in the classroom and mary was completely taken aback, she was shaking and fanning herself like “a black woman in church” as dustin puts it.

He got down on one knee and popped the question in front of 47 of her closest friends, it was magical!

“Ca-brewing”

Ca-brewing: (n), an activity in which one rents a canoe (or a kayak) and spends a lazy afternoon floating down the kentucky river while working one’s way thru a pack of beer with good friends.

Last sunday, the roomates and I went with my aunt tina and her family (don’t worry, we were the only ones playing by the rules!)!

Summer

TOOOO long since a post, so I will try to catch you up on my last summer as a student!

Fountain Hopping: ok, so for my roomate’s (ellen) birthday we surprised her after her birthday dinner with a unique experience of fountain hopping! For those of you who don’t know it’s like a pub crawl for fountains where you can swim and play in the public fountains!  We hit up 4 hoppin water works and had an absolute blast!

“State Fair”: this is in quotes because I thought it was the official state fair but behold, it was the bluegrass fair which entails a little mexico(seriously an area where all the booths sold mexican fare) and the other half was red neck city, holler.  We of course watched the pig racing and duh milked a cow!

My Birthday:  I went home the weekend of my birthday for a wedding that Drew was in but I came home to a lovely surprise from the roomies!  I’m 24, whoa.

Serve the City: I have started going downtown with my church (Southland Church) and serving the people who live in the not so good neighborhoods and need love and basic necessities.  It has been so much fun and I am sad when i have to miss a week!  I can’t help but think of the song lyrics “Greater things are yet to come and greater things are still to be done in this city!”

Hillbilly Hot Dogs

So,I am just now getting around to uploading my pictures from my camera, and found LOTS of good stuff. Including these next few pics from a little place called Lesage, WV. During my WV clinical this summer, my host family took me to see the sights!

Either way it was as good as they say and even cooler to stare at in shock and awe, and not just the restaurant itself but the customers as well…
